15 - 29 September 2014

After 19 hours spent on three flights, we arrived in Calvi, Corsica, on Tuesday the 16th, to the open arms of our French friends Anne-Marie and Rololph Ledrich. Together again after two years, we spent the next six days exploring northwestern Corsica (called La Balanina). Our base was a beautiful home in Lumio where the Ledrichs had exchanged homes.

After a week we drove south along the coast and through the mountains to Ajaccio, the capital city of Corsica, where we spent the night. The next day we headed to Corte in the mountainous central region; exploring the city and spending the night. On the third day of our travels, we arrived in Bastia, along the northeast coast, where we boarded a ferry to Liverno, Italy.

Once in Italy, we took a succession of cabs and trains to Florence, birthplace of the renaissance, where we stayed for four nights. While in Florence, we toured their famous art galleries, explored the beautiful Tuscany wine county and visited Pisa before the start of our journey home.

Enjoy the photographic record of our trip.
